Kim Dongwan debuted in the music scene as a member of the boyband Shinhwa in 1998, and while the other members tried their hand at solo music careers during Shinhwa's short breaks from activity, Kim Dongwan preferred to make a name for himself as an actor.

But in 2007, Kim Dongwan finally decided to take the next step as an artist and release a solo album.

As of November 2008, Kim Dongwan is serving his required two years of military service.
